The dream is becoming a reality!

Last Wednesday, on the 23rd of July 2025, the Hawke’s Bay Tongan Community Langafonua Society Inc. proudly signed the land lease agreement with the Hastings District Council, officially securing Chatham Park in Flaxmere, Hastings as the future home of the Fale Fakakolo, our cultural hub and beating heart for the Hawke’s Bay Tongan community.

This is more than just a legal agreement; it’s a moment of deep pride, vision, and unity for our people. It marks the turning point where plans and prayers become tangible progress.

A heartfelt ‘mālō ‘aupito’ to our legal champion, Jonathan Heaphy of Heaphy & Co., who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to navigate the legal process and ensure we crossed the line strong. We wouldn’t be celebrating this incredible moment today without his dedication and sharp expertise.

With the land now secured, we are moving into the next exciting chapter – fundraising!
And leading the charge is All Blacks legend Mils Muliaina, who is bringing his mana, passion, and leadership to the role of Project Manager for the Fale Fakakolo, alongside the powerhouse team at Mortgage Hub Pacific.

Together, they are shaping a bold and inspiring fundraising strategy to rally our community, partners, and supporters. It’s time to dream even bigger, give generously, and unite with renewed strength and pride.

This is more than a building – it’s a legacy.
The Fale Fakakolo will be a cultural anchor, a place for generations of Tongans to celebrate identity, language, faith, heritage, and togetherness right here in Aotearoa.

Stay tuned, get involved, and let’s walk forward as one community. The journey is just beginning– we’re walking it with purpose and pride.
